Can You Take A Prenatal Vitamin If Not Pregnant?
When I was younger, I had a friend who started taking prenatal vitamins when we were 14. She insisted it enhanced a lot of different parts of the body and it helped her to maintain a healthy body. It’s just a vitamin either way, and she was sure that prenatal vitamins were her secret to beauty and success. But the question is, can you actually take prenatal vitamins when not pregnant and is it a good idea?
If you are planning to conceive, without question, you should start taking a prenatal vitamin. Most experts recommend taking a prenatal vitamin 6 weeks before conception if you can! Many serious birth defects actually occur within the first few weeks after conception. If you start to get more folic acid before then, you will actually be able to get better results.
But beyond that, it’s not necessarily a bad idea. With a good prenatal vitamin, you will get essential vitamins such as A, C, E, and zinc. All of these are good for the hair, skin, and nails, and therefore, they will actually help you to enhance beauty as has been previously discussed. There are different types of prenatal vitamins of course, and some are not as good as others. With any vitamin made for younger women, including prenatal vitamins, you should be sure that you are not overdosing on iron. That is a risk, even with regular menstrual periods or for that matter pregnancy. And there are no prenatal vitamins I have seen without it.
